I’m the BIG 3-0 people! Man has life really flown by.  When did I become a home owner, a business owner, a wife, and now a mother? I feel like it was just yesterday that my biggest dilemma was if I would have time on my lunch break to run to the mall to get a cute outfit for the weekend. Now my biggest dilemma is getting poop out of my fingernails! It’s such a special time in my...

LOVE IS LOVE IS LOVE
simplysillymettc: Marriage is a human right and love is love. This is beautiful. My hope is that Eliana grows up knowing that she has the right to love whomever she wishes to love and we will always be by her side. ~K

Blocked Tear Duct and Mother's Milk →
Yesterday in my One Month Old post I mentioned how Eliana had a clogged tear duct and that it’s actually really common in newborns. Our doctor recommended massaging it every day and using saline spray. The saline spray has been a nightmare so we have opted to only massage it. Thankfully her eye is getting better, but it’s still not where we want it to be. Luckily, because all of you...

One Month Old.
What?! OK this is nuts y’all. 1- I have a child 2- I am a mother and 3- I have a child that is 1 month old!!! Oh but most importantly 4- I have managed to keep my child alive for an entire month! Booyah! Mother of the Year Award goes right here! So here’s our week in a nutshell: The Miracle Blanket is a gift from God. So can I just tell you how in love I am with this straight...

Post Partum Anxiety.
First and foremost a huge thank you to everyone who wrote me publicly and privately with your support from my anxiety post. The amount of anxiety I was feeling was beyond overwhelming. Like I mentioned before, I literally shut down from everything and everyone— except from my child. There were days where John would look at me and with the most pathetic voice say, “I just want my...

Guest Blog Post- Tres Jolie!
What an honor to be asked to guest blog for the sweet, sweet Kristen! A new mom, a loving wife and a glimmer of hope shining like gold in the not-always-so-crystal-clear water. Kristen has spent the last couple of years documenting HER journey to parenthood from the heartbreak and despair to the fresh, pink, almond eyed angel she now holds in her arms. She teaches us, whether she intends to or...

18 pounds to go...
Well, I must admit the pounds were flying off of me at first, but now everything has slowed down. I gained almost 45 lbs with this pregnancy and now have about 18 lbs to go to get to my pre-pregnancy weight. Not bad if I say so myself. I credit breastfeeding for the most part, but I have been eating incredibly healthy these days. For some reason I have been craving healthy foods and water. I...

Our First Father's Day.
Our morning started off just right with sweet daddy snuggles… Our next stop was at Aunt KK’s to visit your little cousins, Parker and Hayes, and uncle Brian… Mommy and Aunt KK had to act a fool and our childish ways took over….What are we doing? Then we stopped to have lunch with Nana and Papa at one of our favorite restaurants downtown, Sitti. And we...

When is it safe?
I’ve heard a lot of different opinions about the whole running with an infant thing, but I want to know what you think? Some women say absolutely not until they’re 6 months  maybe even closer to 12 months, and some woman say 3, 4, 5 months. I guess it really just depends on the mama and baby, but I wonder if there has been actual studies done on the safety of this? Do you have a...

This week.
I’ve spent tons of time trying to figure Eliana out, only to realize that she hasn’t even figured herself out. We’re all learning here. It’s a huge adjustment to add such a major responsibility to our lives. But man is she a cute responsibility to have. As exhausted as I am, I really enjoy breastfeeding. It’s the one time that I truly feel connected to her and...

Currently on its way to mi casa…The Miracle Blanket. I’ve heard a lot about this “blanket” but never really considered purchasing it mainly because I’m cheap. But after texting with my friend today, I realize that this could very well be the answer to my sleep deprivation! Or at least help increase Eliana’s 2-3 hr sleepy time, to maybe 4 hrs. Please God!!! ...

Finding Lauren Spierer
Being that I’m a new mother, I cannot imagine ANYTHING bad ever happening to Eliana! A reader of mine sent me this link to help find Lauren Spierer. She has been missing since June 3rd, and was last seen on 11st St. and College Aven. in Bloomington, IN.  Please reblog this and share with your friends! It’s the least we can do! ~K

Guest Blog Post
I’m so grateful that I got to know Kristen throughout these months during her pregnancy. I found her through Melissa at Dear Baby, and read her blog posts with admiration and respect. Her journey has been so difficult but in the end, very rewarding. I started to follow her when she posted the “We’re Pregnant” video, and began to reach out to her after that. The development...

The jury’s still out on this one… The night before my induction, for the first time in the history of “The Khloe”, she did not sleep with me. I don’t know what kind of “OMG the baby is coming out of my vagina tomorrow” vibes she was getting, but little Khloe said, “Heck to the no, I’m not sleeping with you,  you mean old lady, who is about...

(This was our first dinner out so daddy had to celebrate with a cold beer; Note: Drinking and daddy duty is always monitored by mama laser beams. Trust it.) Today was your 2 week appointment and we couldn’t be more proud! Your birth weight was 7lb 6 oz and your height was 20 in. Today you weighed 8lb 1 oz and you have grown to 20.5 in. Woot Woot! The doctor said you are growing fast and...

Cannot live without.
Mama Essentials: 1- Pads- Holy bloody mess y’all. People can tell you about the whole bleeding thing after your delivery but you are NEVER prepared for it. NEVER. It’s starting to really slow down, but the first week was no fun on the bloody front. For the first several days I had an issue with controlling my bladder as well. It was hard to hold it in and when I realized I had to pee,...

Last night was Natalie and Jared’s engagement party that I was so blessed to help host. I say “help” very loosely as there wasn’t much I could do being that you take up 100% of my time!! Nonetheless, it was a beautiful occasion to celebrate a couple that I truly believe are perfect for one another. I was really hesitant about taking you to this party, but we had no other...

My little girl. My sweet sweet Eliana… You have completely taken over our world and filled our hearts with pure love. This is a love that I never knew existed. A love that’s so overwhelming it’s indescribable.  As I write this, I’m watching you sleep restlessly. Today has been a fussy day full of mama snuggles. You seem most peaceful in my arms. It’s the best...

Anxiety.
For the past ten years I have dealt with anxiety but in a different way. Whenever I would have a panic attack it would trigger in my stomach. I would get severe stomach aches and diarrhea. I was obsessed with bathrooms. Wherever I went, you betcha I would scope out the nearest bathroom location, “just in case”. At the end of my pregnancy, many of you may remember me mentioning this...
